Note:

How to boil a new cast iron pot?

  1. Clean the new pot thoroughly, then bake it over medium heat. Turn to low heat once the pot is dry.
  2. Pour an appropriate amount of cooking oil into the pot. Use a paper towel held with chopsticks or clamps, dip it in the oil, and spread the oil evenly across every part of the pot.
  3. Repeat the oiling process several times (be careful not to burn yourself) for 3–5 minutes. (If possible, using pig skin is recommended for best results.)
  4. Allow the pot to cool naturally. Repeat the boiling process 2–3 times for the best effect, about 3–5 minutes each time.

How to avoid rust:

  1. After use, wash the pot with warm water and dry thoroughly. Apply a layer of vegetable oil for better preservation.
  2. If storing for a long time, wipe a thin layer of cooking oil on the pot using the same method as seasoning.
  3. If rust appears, use a scouring pad and salt to remove both rust and the associated odor.
